27the December 2010 marks Roq’s first day/time dipping his head into salt water and he definitely loves the sea! Our original plan was only a walk along the beach, but the kids’ weak pretension at wetting their feet became a huge splash into the clear water!

Lok Kawi Wild Life Centre

In my previous posting, I mentioned about my family trip to Lok Kawi Wild Life Centre. I shot quite a number of pictures there and it is very hard to select which animals to feature in this blog. The sleepy bear made it to this blog last week. This week the smart and cunning Proboscis Monkey enters the hall of fame. Quite hard to avoid the reflections though, as we were separated from each other by a sheet of glass.

I’m Feeling Sleepy

I really don’t know where to bring my kids during school holidays. Both my wife and I are very occupied with work, so there’s no chance that we’ll be taking any long holiday trips. Whenever we can, we spend our time at shopping mall, cinema or at the beach. Last week, we travelled about 30km from home to visit some wild animals at Lok Kawi Wild Life Park. We have not went there for about 2 years now and we can see many changes happening at the park. One of the main attractions now is the animal show and the kids are very delighted with the animals’ performance.

As always I brought along my Sony Alpha in case there’s interesting scene to capture. The last time we went to Lok Kawi Wild Life Park, there were no bears. So it is no surprise that the sleepy guy above managed to sneak into my digital collections.

Macro Photography

To be honest, I don’t have macro lenses, so I had to borrow from my sister. Since the lenses couldn’t fit my Sony Alpha camera, I had to borrow her Canon 550D as well to take this picture. Macro Photography is an art of taking close up picture or small object. Not easy if the object can move like this sweet little butterfly above. I can’ remember how long I had to wait till it stopped moving. Worth waiting though.

Honda Civic EG 9

A friend of mine asked me to help him to sell his car. I thought why not? It gives me a chance to test my photography skill by taking this black beauty and post in on the net. I put the picture of this Honda Civic EG9 on Facebook, Blog and Mudah.My. We managed to sell the car within one day after I advertised it in Mudah.My and more than a dozen interested, albeit disappointed, calls kept coming 3 days afterwards.

What Bird Is This?

I’m not sure what bird this is. What I know is that I have gone through a lot of trouble to take its picture. I had bird shits on my clothes as I had to bring my tall body down to get a better angle of this beauty. Its orangy chest feathers look electrical, don’t they, or almost fiery? This picture was taken at the aviary cage at Lok Kawi Wild Life Park.

Sabah UMNO Building

I find taking photo of buildings very difficult indeed. Finding the right angle and getting the correct exposure especially under the heat of the sun are very challenging. I know that I’m a bit handicapped when it comes to taking these pictures since I’m only using the entry level DSLR but I still believe there must be a way to make this picture better. Sunset (Again?)

I said it before and I said it again – I LOVE SUNSET. I think many people like it too. This picture was taken at my in-law’s house after “kenduri”. There are a few DBKK lamp poles inside the picture that I erased using the “Clone Tools” on Photoshop because I feel they distract from the main subject matter. I used my Sony alpha for this shoot @18mm, f 3.5 with ISO800. I hope you like it coz’ I really it very much.

There will be a new shop at 1Borneo Shopping Mall. Looking at the poster and banner outside the store, it’s gonna be a new showroom for Hyundai (or is it Toyota?). This shop is located at the 2^nd floor opposite GSC Cinema.

Cute Car

This car or (small pick-up?) always parks somewhere close to our office everyday. I think it belongs to the hardware store nearby. It was so small that a Perodua Kancil looks big when parked next to it. It’s really cute, isn’t it?

It’s Raining Outside

I was in the car waiting for my wife when taking this shot. It was raining heavily outside and I was feeling very cold. Had to make my body move a little bit to make me warmer. So, I grabbed my Sony 230 and set the setting to f25, ISO 800 and came up with this picture.

To be honest, I didn’t take this picture. My friend did and I had to ask for permission to publish it in my blog. I love sunset. I took a couple of shots of sunset but didn’t get a good one. Maybe I went to the wrong place? Anyway, this one was taken by my dear friend, Hassan, using Canon D550 at my hometown, Muar. What you see is the view at Tg Mas which is about 5 minutes walk from my house. How did I miss it? Only Gods know! :D

Movie Poster

This picture was taken at GSC Suria Kota Kinabalu Sabah. I was about to watch Will Farrell’s “The Other Guys” when I thought “Wait a minute; this poster is kinda nice to shot”. As always I can rely on my Sony Ericsson Cybershot as my bulky DSLR is not allowed to enter the cinema hall. I had to take several shoots to get the best lighting effect though. I think it worked out quite well. Don’t you think so?

I took this picture in Melaka, historical City, before she was declared “Negeri Maju”. We were in a boat cruising along the Melaka River when we passed by many neat and wonderful buildings, nicely painted and decorated. This, I think, is a depiction of Hang Tuah, or one of his friends.

This one is my favourite photo featuring my main model, my lovely daughter, of course. Taken during Hari Raya at my parents’ house, with my nieces chatting at the back. The girls spent most of their time together – all 7 of them, between the ages of 3 – 9. Their energy was unbelievable – they could play from sunrise to sunset .

Whenever I need a model, my girl is always ready to help me. I know one day she will start asking for royalty when she sees her picture all over the net. This was taken in Malacca. She was sulking a bit because she was thirsty and there stalls nearby were all still closed for Raya. Still, we love Malacca and plan to visit again.

KL Bird Park

Located in the middle of Kuala Lumpur city, surrounded by the serene and scenic Lake Gardens, the KL Bird Park was truly amazing. It is well known as "Free-flight Walk-in Aviary" and the place was so huge that we couldn't finish the tour. Still, we had the chance to look up close at lots of birds and also the strutting peacocks and peahens ... more peahens than peacocks, though.

In this photo, the kids and grown-ups were fascinated by the quiet and lonesome bird (sorry, my knowledge of the bird species is rather minuscule) and my son was offering it some food. This picture was taken during our visit to Kuala Lumpur on the 6th day of Hari Raya.

A note for those who plans to visit -bring lots of water and wear comfy shoes, the walk was a challenge.

I used my Sony Ericson K-801 Cyber-Shot for this image. Taken while my family and I was waiting outside GSC 1Borneo to watch a movie. Obviously, no way for me to bring along my bulky DSLR camera, so the tiny Sony Ericson came in handy. That's my 9 year-old girl in front of Clash of The Titans poster.

Wisma MUIS

This is one of my earliest attempts at shooting a landscape picture with the sun above the head. The result was quite bad. Even adjustments with photoshop doesn't quite work. Over-exposure, I think.

For those who are not from Sabah, Wisma Muis houses the Kota Kinabalu Syariah Court, a few shops, restaurants, government offices, etc. It's atmosphere is very Islamic, especially bearing in mind the fact that it is just a few steps away from the compound of the magnificent Sabah State Mosque.
